Life’s Not All Joy

To Christ we come with hopes ablaze
Expecting fruit galore
Only to walk as in a daze
When wars break down our door

For Satan seeks to keep us bound
To keep us fooled and blind
To thwart our climb to higher ground
He battles with our mind

Life’s not all joy and endless peace
This world is steeped in sin
First selfish ways must come to cease
Where true love can begin

Who love their neighbours right and left
Who practice God’s true word
Gain strength within The Mountain Cleft
Where Jesus’ voice is heard

For God can see the contrite heart
The humble seeking Light
To these, The Truth will God impart
With robes of purest white

Of course at times this life is rough
The road is hard to walk
But bear in mind when things get tough
We need much more than talk

From Satan flee his wares resent
From darkness have no share
From sin and shame we must repent
Through Christ directed prayer

Not oft we’ll see where peace is made
This world’s not trouble free
But in the next the price is paid
When Christ was on The Tree
