Like The Dawn Poem by Gianfranco Aurilio

Like The Dawn

And I would like to see the dawn
dyeing her body with the sun
and powdering her pale
wan nose with colours.
I would like to ask her
how she can love the night
as well as the day without suffering.
I would like to see her
kiss the dark without weeping
and the glimmer that comes
to take her back by the hand.
And I would like to see the dawn
and tell her: "I too have a heart
that can love and then leave
reappearing and loving again."
