I am Lily (with one el...) . She liked to play, she said
Ball games, mind games, word games even even rackets
So long as it amused her mind, filled her pockets
She'd score at home, she'd cheer if hired
She enjoyed to spend, we heard
Nothing for free, all good things had a price
So long as she wasn't paying, times were nice
She'd charm you all day, obliging til you had paid
She loved making music, and she sang
blew pipes, rock n'roll, beat the bongo
So long as you owned the instrument, she'd drive you loco
She'd serenade you today, she'd bathe you with her tongue
Lily (with one el) ... mind there, as talented as she
Got ill one day, had no visiting friends who'd afford the fee
But so long as her tombstone stood etched 'Lily'
Just long enough any passerby could read it for free
Too damned to care, just as she did in her prime
And for a long while bushes engulfing her lair
She lies cold in a gilded casket that her savings bought her
Lily of the Bush, wantonly popular in her time
