Lingering In A Bygone Era Poem by Raymond Farrell

Lingering In A Bygone Era

Rating: 5.0

I am hopelessly
And happily
Lingering
With one foot
In a bygone era
I think it is safe
To say that
Because
The speed of change
Has been
Like lightning
Not too many years ago
An Era
Would take decades to pass
But now
With rapid
Improvements in technology
Matters change quickly
To look at
My clothes and habits
It is not apparent
How behind the times
I am
But when the young people
See my primitive cell phone
They grin knowingly
I could move with the times
But I prefer
To lag behind
There are plenty
Of eager folks
To lend a hand
And I will gladly
Do the thinking
If they
Will operate the gadgets
One Era coexisting
And collaborating
With another.

I like the principles and sentiment expressed and yet, Raymond, the new gadget offer so much connectivity in so many ways, it may be worth taking the time and effort to get familiar with them.

This is an amazing work...I like the effect your words create...speed, time, time moving faster and faster. You almost force the reader to hold a breath until the last word is reached...A 10.
