Live Each Day Poem by Phil Soar

Live Each Day

Each day I wake up, take my pills
To help me manage all my ills
I have a wash, and shave my face
Look at the lines I can't replace
That furrowed brow, the long nose hairs
The spots that seem to form in pairs
The mirror doesn't lie it's true
You see yourself, looking back at you

It wouldn't harm you just to wink
Or change the way your feelings think
Imagine that your own reflection
Is on the way to near perfection
Though time moves on, the mirror shows
Where all the stress of living goes
Yet you can change what you might see
With a smile in your own company

So what your mirror image brings
To cheer your life, as each day begins
Are reflections of a life that's truly full
Not empty or lost, just meaningful
So take every moment, and breathe it in
Relax and be mindful of the mood you're in
And begin each day with a nod and a wink
And acknowledge the way you intend to think
