(28 March 1993 / New Delhi)

The world is too large a place.
I quiver for my little space.
When I feel misfit in my little world,
I feel loneliness.

People do not know words to harm me.
Pain does not know how to charm me.
When I harm myself and cause pain,
I feel loneliness.

My love expressed in an unsent letter.
For her, it does not matter.
When I read that letter to myself,
I feel loneliness.

The moonlight and bonny stars
Casting shadows in late hours.
When I fear an unknown shadow,
I feel loneliness.

For willing eyes, there is much to love
The rain, the rose, white dove.
When I set hateful eyes on something,
I feel loneliness.

I owe enough to keep misery at bay.
I receive a gift as I receive a day.
When I see what lies in other's pouch,
I feel loneliness.

I dream an independent dream.
Swimming against the stream.
When I am frustrated and crush my dream,
I feel loneliness.

Love makes life worth.
Conquers all evils on Earth.
When I lose hope in hove,
I feel loneliness.

A myth forged by me.
Running away from my company,
Embracing the dark,
A welcome feast for evil
Accepting my worst self,
Denying myself a right to live.

A Loss of self love
A loss of oneself,
To insecurities, complexes,
Fears, hatred, envy
Non existent, unreal.
Self created myths.

Poem of the Day

poet Sara Teasdale

"Oh Day of Fire and Sun"
by Sara Teasdale

Oh day of fire and sun,
Pure as a naked flame,
Blue sea, blue sky and dun
Sands where he spoke my name;

Laughter and hearts so high
That the spirit flew off free,
