Lonely! Poem by Ayokunle Adeleye

Lonely!

Lonely, lonely-is how I feel.
Yet my broken heart I hope to heal
Lonely, lonely-Akon sang.
Reminiscent of the heart-wrenching bang

Alone I sit
Hoping to see
The one for whom
My heart will tilt

I should have noticed all along
For that affair was so wrong
So even now I'm hoping to see
The one whose heart will long for me

It is now that I wish I had run
Before by her my heart was won
But now it's late: My heart is torn;
If not for Christ, I'll be a broken horn

As one can see, sunk I am
Though not punctured by the horns of a ram
Immobility has become my plight
As I can no longer take to flight

Hope you know I ain't trying to replace
The pain, oh yes, I will displace
But that will be when I finally find
The one who forever will be one of a kind Many, of course, I sure can love
But all have been, to me, a loss
Maybe, a coin, I'll have to toss
So that, for once, I'll be love's boss

Many, of course, I sure can love
So far my tests they surely pass
But few, I think, can show me love
So that these pains depart en masse

If a question is on your mind
Then the answer I sure will find
Could it be...? Oh what question?
Whether my story is real or fiction?

Of course my story is for real
True love I have always craved
Agape love that is for real
Its path I pray will soon be paved

On some dames my eyes are set
Yet to say I'm flirtatious is too early yet
The reason why more than one is in my net
Is so that with tears my eyes will not be wet

As for now I will wait
For the opening of true love's gate
Then will I date the one
Whose heart, for me, will be won
