Lonely Place Poem by Susan Ash

Lonely Place

Rating: 5.0

It’s been said before by
Those revered for their wisdom.
It’s nothing new.
At the end of the day
We are each alone.
Sole responsibility for
Our own actions,
Our ups and downs.
Our own happiness.

This must be the
Hardest lesson.
The longest to learn,
The most difficult
To accept.

So we keep on hoping
Even when we know better.
Expecting from others
And being hurt by them.
Feeling incomplete,
Deflated, betrayed,
Without that reassurance.

At the end of the day
We are also responsible
For our own miseries.
‘Doesn’t make it any
Easier though!
It’s a lonely place to be.
