Look Into My Eyes Poem by John Yaws

Look Into My Eyes

I know you don't believe me
For I told you all those lies.
And that I gave you reason,
To leave I realize....
But darling I still love you-
Regret all those mistakes
I'd like to start all over,
If it is not too late.

Won't you take a minute
To look into my eyes?
The love which you will find in there
May come as a surprise...
I did you wrong, I can't explain
The motive or the cause-
But when you said, "It's over".
I knew what I had lost.

If you leave me, darling-
I just may not survive.
I wonder if a part of it-
Was being forty-five?
Middle aged and crazy-
It's said go hand and hand...
Can you find forgiveness-
For this crazy man?

If you can't I understand-
And blame you not at all.
My folly, dear, has caused a lot
Of bitter tears to fall.
Do you think it's possible
To give it one more try?
If you doubt my love, sweetheart-
Just look into my eyes.
