Looking Back
Along the beach
We walked hand in hand
Looking back
At footprints in the sand
Yesterdays washed away
By the tides of time
Waves of circumstance
Without
Reason or rhyme
A trail of sunsets
From time long past
Wished upon stars
Not built to last
Scattered dreams lined the beach
As far as far could be
Carried by the surf
Swallowed by the sea
Looking back
At footprints in the sand
Trailing off
Where
We began.
