Lord Tennyson, The Great Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Lord Tennyson, The Great

Alfred Lord Tennyson
Born eighteen-o-nine,
Master of all he surveyed.
Poet of the Victorian era...
Great talent always displayed.
Lord Alfred would never be blind
To the suitable word that rhymed.
His memorable poem loved by all
'Charge of the Light Brigade'
Classic on the Crimean War
Words that will never fade.
Talent shows in shorter poems,
'The Eagle' six lines of delight,
Describing the bird at rest
And also the bird in flight.
The Golden Treasury recalls:
'Splendour Falls On Castle Walls'
Eighteen lines; imaginative lines:
Bugle blow and set the echoes flying
Echoes answer: dying, dying, dying.
