Love In The Dales Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Love In The Dales

Hand in hand they wandered
across green hills and vales.
'Twas in the glorious summertime
In England's Yorkshire Dales.

The sun was out ~ the sky was blue
the countryside, never so fair.
His heart was filled with rapture and joy
for his maiden with golden hair.

She seemed so genteel to his eyes
with a softness pale as the snow.
Her beautiful smile captured his heart
Oh, how he adored her so.

Bells rang out from a village church
as he knelt before his love,
symphonic rhapsodies floated on air
God's light shone down from above.

Who else within this wondrous world
could feel such ecstasy rare?
At a time when fairy-tales came true
They both vowed their lives to share.
