Love Lost

A fleeting whisper
Passes by, she
Tempts me so but
To no avail.

Like a siren's song,
Her face, voice, scent
All beckon me
To fall once more

Into that trap again.
I know I must
Not allow my
Mind to settle.

Amorousness? No.
A hidden agenda.

Ticking, my heart is
Choked by my thoughts,
For they will not
Entertain its

Delusions of love.
They know the truth
And still my heart
Declines to accept.
