Love My Mother Poem by Michael Peterson

Love My Mother

From a young baby to a beautiful girl
Attractive teen to a gorgeous adult
She grew into a special person
From sister to mother to aunt to grandmother
Even as a great grandmother, still full of life
The years were not kind to her
The depression, the wars were hard
Growing fast to help raise her siblings
A mother hen early on, they looked up to her
Quit school to work, the family needed money
There was 10 of them, food was scarce
Gave a lot to her Brothers and Sisters
A lot of love, respect, and envy
She worked hard thru her life
Met a soldier, fell in love
Got married, had many kids
Marriage was so hard, heart breaking at the end
Divorce came, on her own raising eight
Many jobs, little help, fighting to survive
Taught us manners, respect and love
Hard to show love had to be strong
Very independent, very wise
Never stepped down, always a fighter
The rough years took their toll
First her health, then her pride
So small and fragile, not the same
Wand has broken, but still a fighter
Never whined, never complain
Tough to see her age, so quickly
Think of her often, always saying In love you
Even when she is mad at me
Respect and love teach you that
No matter how you are
Mother is Mother, Stubborn or not
Waiting for the that final day
Hoping for years praying forever
I will never let her go, love her so
She taught me the world
To work and enjoy life, no matter what
Raising eight all alone, now we are helping her
The cycle of life and love does that
Many tears have fallen from her eyes
Pain and suffering now, Hiding it as much as she can
Her eyes show us the sadness and the pain
Her mind so strong and such a fighter
Independentshe is all the way
Stubborn to the end she will be
For I love my Mother
I will carry her love and soul in me
Till the end of time, Love Ya Mom! !
