Love's Comfort Poem by Ibn Ali

Love's Comfort

If I love you's were used for fuel,
We'd cruise l'amour to view the moon,
If hugs and kisses served as zephyrs,
They'd fill the sails that moved flotillas,
Gestures made to reassure,
Mine are neither grand nor ambitious,
If seconds I had few to spare,
I'd scavenge more to bide you minutes,
I know that you've been burnt before,
My palms are charred from touching,
I'd gladly hold you with both hands,
And the pain won't be for nothing,
I'd pull you near and hold you close to gladly share your suffering,
And your tears won't quench the blaze,
They only serve as food for fire,
Starve the flames in love's embrace,
Without protestation or riot.
