Love Shouldn't Hurt (A.K.A. Hands) Poem by Practicing Poetess

Love Shouldn't Hurt (A.K.A. Hands)

Rating: 5.0

'Crimes of Passion' are mis-named.
They are anger gone amuck.
Hands weren't meant to hurt another,
But to give a tender touch.

Hands should comfort; hands should hold.
Hands should give, and hands should heal.
Hands impart life-giving hope,
That is how you know love's real.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Many stories on the news are about women (girlfriends, wives)murdered by their boyfriend or husband. That sad reality was the inspiration for this poem.
Rage comes from control and obsession, not real love.

Hands that save And Hands that kill Can you call that Man's free will? Very taken by your poem. Beautiful and just thoughts so very well and finely expressed.

Thank you, Bec. I don't often write about controversial or difficult issues, but every once in awhile I'll get an inspiration for such a poem. This particular issue occurs far too frequently. Real love builds the other person up- - It does not tear down or destroy.
