Love That's Never Right Poem by Amy Whittlesey

Love That's Never Right

The flying arrow found it’s mark
from heart to heart it grew
along the way to
pierce a lark as miseries ensued

a time of time and half a time
when true love did begin
to feast on dreams in three dimensions
drink in mortal sin

but soon the jaded edges form
as ego falls from flight
and buys the store then looks no more
with devil’s heart’s delight

when once you were so beautiful
and lovely to behold
now you’re such a wretched thing
that’s tossed and turned to cold

i never saw a river fail
nor ocean burn at night
but thanks to you i know what ends
it’s love that’s never right

the flying arrow found it’s mark
from heart to heart it grew
along the way to
pierce a lark as miseries ensued

a time of time and half a time
when true love did begin
to feast on dreams in three dimensions
drink in mortal sin

but soon the jaded edges form
as ego falls from flight
and buys the store then looks no more
with devil’s heart’s delight

when once you were so beautiful
and lovely to behold
now you’re such a wretched thing
that’s tossed and turned to cold

i never saw a river fail
nor ocean burn at night
but thanks to you i know what ends
it’s love that’s never right
