Loves Denial Poem by Kurt Philip Behm

Loves Denial

When you split the beam and the splintered edge
is all you're left with

The only one you've outsmarted
is yourself

A prisoner of your severed choice
and schizophrenia

The victim of your hearts defeat
—and loves denial
