Loving Me For The Wrong Reasons Poem by Rachel Brewer

Loving Me For The Wrong Reasons

You want me for the person I’m not.
You want what you see on the outside,
And you don’t bother to see if there’s anyone inside.
And I’m not okay with that.
You want me for all the reasons I hate myself,
And not for the reasons I’m proud of.
Intelligence, feelings, emotions, these are all the things you want to avoid.
And I’m sorry but if your with me you get the whole package.
I don’t want to be loved by someone who doesn’t want to know me,
And I don’t want to be loved by someone who isn’t really in love with me.
You love the idea of me with you,
But you don’t really love me, do you.
I didn’t think so. So why don’t you go and find someone else.
Someone who will love you for all the wrong reasons,
Just like you loved me.
