Luna And Sol Poem by grace mariner

Luna And Sol

And Luna asked Sol, why do you hide me away?
Is it because I change from day to day?
I am a sliver of gold in the darkness of night,
or a pale shadowed orb lighting the lovers' path at night.

And Sol replied...
You're like every woman, inconsistent and vane!
You come and you go as you wax and you wane.
Your lore invites werewolves and creatures of night,
and removes all the beauty and color from sight.

But Luna protests...
I am the goddess who makes love to and speaks to the ground
My maiden turns mother, so full and so round.
I summon that season of harvest and birth,
and my wiles as a crone are like non other on Earth!

You lie exclaimed Sol with a fire filled roar!
I alone bring the seasons' and harvest and more!
It is true that your pull affects madness and tides
but I bring the warmth and the colors besides.

But I, Luna countered, affect a mans' heart,
as I light lovers' paths so the two will not part.
And under my fair light with stars bright as glitter,
two hearts become one as they coo and they twitter.
And loves that are parted will look up and wonder,
if the same moon they see, their true love now stands under.

So Sol could not argue this genuine fact...
though his heat and his power were all still in tact,
he could not match the power that Luna so proffered.
Though bigger and brighter, she had more to be offered
