Are you in the house alone
While everyone is sleeping?
The silence gets oppressive
And the darkness keeps on creeping
Are there really monsters
Underneath your bed
Momma told you you'd be fine
But brother says you're dead
Those shadows in the corner
You swear that they have eyes
In the light you might see lampshades
But that's merely a disguise
Huddle 'neath the blankets
With your palms pressed to your heart
Just as you're falling asleep
You waken with a start
Pull the covers higher
Over your tousled head
Promising yourself once more
That you're safe up in your bed
Are you in the house alone
While everyone is sleeping?
The silence gets oppressive
My dear you are still weeping
