Mad Skills

It caught in the corner of my eye
A momentary flash of golden light
The sun, flames of an ancient fire

My desert lips bled dry to wet
A fevered dance, a midday sweat
Shining like the oceans of his eyes

I have mastered the art of craving
Learned to nap with a fire blazing
Covered in ash of sweet memory

Evening's rewind long yesterdays
Fuel to feed my unquenchable ways
Tomorrow's wine, a vow unspoken

I have mastered the art of longing
The insatiable need, forever haunted
A smell, a taste, sweet flavors of my history

I writhe in a storm of his proclivities
Like a fire raging or a chaotic sea
The rocky shore, a small price to pay

I have mastered the art of yearning
My frenzied mind, my loins burning
In twilight dreams I own the flames

The lustful gasps, and shameless sighs
A blaze too hot to call it wise
Yet still, I seek it both day and night

I have mastered the art of desire
I have felt the heat and I know its sire
A dangerous guest, a silent fire

While a fickle flame may burn too naught
I wake to the kiss of wicked thought
…and all the days
…and all the nights
Will never quench the fire inside
