I brought you to this
for a time to make me
enduring in name
a legacy secured
handed down with care
as was to me from one

I kept you in comforts
needs you have not known
wants fulfilled in time
cherished in my youthfulness
unruly and hungry
fueling fires of tomorrow

I need you to go now
doors yet breached await you
steeled and sturdy
unyielding to lesser men
against your strengths
silken entrances to salvation

I wish you were here
past days haunt me so
tasting the regrets
no vision of your rewards
savor the moments you make
I shall rest in your heart
