Man of Bronze

He's a public 'secret agent', from a proudly client state.
That dovetail's his own interests to the meme: 'On yer, mate! '
A cut-out cardboard fascist with the cache of the great;
He's one fit short of crazy; and of that there's no debate!

To his face he's 'Jim' not 'Jimbo'; to the world he is 'James Bronze'.
His mother was a bimbo; his dad - the scum in ponds.
With a chip on both his shoulders, he's the perfect corporate thug,
As the state allies with business like an addict does his drug.

Some say he studied danger, and took a top degree.
Others say it's stranger, he shot a man at three!
But it's all just speculation, to wring out the sleazy thrill,
His bond's to product placement as his franchise is to shill.

As an edgy market leader with a look as cool as chill;
Or a tired bottom feeder who spoons us pap and swill.
But it's all just adoration for a spook that loves to kill;
His game: assassination of goons with wit and skill.

He likes to bed the ladies; leave them panting and prostrate.
Then consign them all to Hades, for the sluts deserve their fate.
In this amoral universe, such are heroes we create:
He's one fit short of crazy; and of that there's no debate!

poet William Butler Yeats

WINE comes in at the mouth
And love comes in at the eye;
That's all we shall know for truth
Before we grow old and die.
I lift the glass to my mouth,
