Man Without Ease Poem by Tony Adah

Man Without Ease

Akpalo is a bachelor
And they said Akpalo's manhood
Is lost amidst a bevy of girls
He loved every woman he saw
And wanted to add souls to his home
Akpalo claimed every child
Born of a woman
And married every married woman
The gods who knew the truth
Kept silent
He gave all to be a father of a child
When Akpalo told the world
He will never part with his blood
To anyone
The tired world told him
To first collect his blood
In the abdomen of mosquitoes.
