Marines (Thought) Poem by Poet of the River

Marines (Thought)

Rating: 4.5

I chose to join the marines today.
To be put in a boat and shipped away.
Off to training, fire and aiming.
For I chose to join the marines today.
Filled with kindness open mindedness
not sure what I should say...
War and violence not my style,
yet for my choice shall be gone for a while,
For I chose to join the marines today.

every shot i make,
every family i break,
just know from the bottom of my heart,
that every shot i make and life I take,
I will do my part, and pay it back 10 fold.

My purity concerns you not.
for soon enough it will be my time.
To stand up and inline.
in salute, I will compute,
and untie the strangling knot.
For I joined the marines today.

Although I respect the valour and dedication soldiers do to protect our country (mine, your, and everyone elses) I cannot condone the things that occure, your poem lists several of those things. which I am uneased. Taking order is never an excuse to commite horrible evils in the name of freedom.
