Married Life Poem by Paul Reed

Married Life

Rating: 5.0

We rise in the morning
To see the first light of day
We kiss goodbye
And go our own way;

But in the evening
Again we are blessed
With each other's company
As we take our rest.

The use of the two stanzas makes it feel that nothing between those two small events matters, therefore emphasising their importance. This gives the poem a strength which is greater than its simplicity (which i like greatly) first suggests.
