Mask Poem by Shelby L

Mask

Rating: 5.0

There's a mask hanging on my face,
It's not there and many people will never know.
I can't let people in and I can't trust them that easy either.
I've been told I'm strong and can't believe you are so brave.
If only they new what happens behind locked doors.
The mask peels away and the real me breaks free.
Free from the prison I put up 10 years ago.
That was the day when the real me died,
And now is placed behind these blue eyes.
Maybe some day I can peel away this mask for good,
But until then I'll do what I have since then,
Take my problems and face them alone,
Behind locked doors.
