Maun Fully Speaking Poem by Deepak Manchanda of Delhi

Maun Fully Speaking

In the extraordinary silence

Of the Maun

Lies the cocoon of The Being

Separate from just everyday being

In the core of the Maun

Is a cauldron of mental energy

At the periphery of the Maun

Is the strength of an armour

From the higher peaks of Maun

Is the calmness of faith

In the deep Maun of prayer is

A half smile of recognition

An affectionate look of gentleness

An unspoken gesture of welcome

Vijay aunty

Your Maun was our light

Your Maun was a source

In your Maun now

We see your radiance

We hear you speak

Forever.

NOTE:

"Maun" is a vow of silence. It is wilfully undertaken to calm the mind and strengthen the mind.

This poem is a tribute to my maternal aunt - Vijay, who practiced the Maun daily for a most of her adult life.

This poem is a tribute to my maternal aunt Vijay who passed away peacefully a few weeks back. She practiced the Maun - a daily vow of silence - as a routine.
