Me In The Moon Poem by Richard Jarboe

Me In The Moon

Oowee, standing by,
On guard duty in the sky,
Moon staring me back in the face,
Til dawn and gone without a trace.

There are no words that can describe,
The words I can't remember.
There are no scenes I can describe,
Where I've never been.

All I have tonight is the moon,
And it's a blue moon at that,
All I got is what remains,
In the dark smothered in moonlight.

No car, no worries, no rest,
Just a bit of time in the night,
Still trying to do my best,
To get back to sleep before daylight.

I'm reminded of the words given me,
By a guy I hardly knew,
Thinking about a deal in China,
And the language about it too.

I think about the amount words,
I ever used through time,
Some of them paid off I guess,
Some not worth a dime.

A full moon is like a clock,
Not months but minutes tick by,
Sometimes when I'm drunk,
I see two moons in the sky.

I point my finger to the moon,
To eclipse it just for fun,
My finger can make the moon go away,
And I'll do it later with the sun.
