Media Circus Poem by Tony Esmonde

Media Circus

Rating: 2.5

They babble on
a constant chatter.
A media circus;
truth doesn't matter.

Rumour and hearsay
their daily diet.
Noisy exchanges
devoid of quiet

reverence for veracity.
Just fill empty space
with padded words
from a pretty face.

It's a non stop barrage
of regurgitated views.
Repeated 'ad infinitum'
which is protrayed as news.

The balance in reports
no longer of account.
Sensationalized events
is all that counts.

So called experts
with subjective insights.
Dubiously speculate
what's wrong or right.

This verbal pollution
infiltrates worldwide.
A pernicious cancer.
An unstoppable tide.

On on it goes
tirades of grey thought,
satiated with bad news,
that's sold and bought.

But truth shows us
a more righteous path.
Creating balance everywhere
with renewed mind and old heart.
