Memory Poem by Benoni Chortle

Memory

Memories replenish what was lost

But a tear, a sorrowful tear is the cost

When will I see you again? I don’t know

You still whisper in my ear as the wind gently blows

I long to see you again but not at this moment

I know not when, I know not where, I know not how

Memory, O Memory how I lament

I long to see you again will you please tell me now?

I’ve let go of the recollections that I once kept

But the regrets, the pain, the sorrow slowly crept

Close to my heart I guard you my friend

I long to be able to see you again

I remember you from time to time

How I’ve thought you were the villain

Then I recall it was one of my crimes

Despite that, I realize I am forgiven

Forget and it is soon forgotten

Reminisce and remember again

Memory I’ve missed you to the power of ten

Oh how I’ve missed you, my friend.
