Memory Of Roses Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Memory Of Roses

Sorrow I feel, for I must leave you
Standing in the midnight air,
My heart belongs to a memory of roses
And your heart belongs to a maiden fair.

Long ago, we each made a promise
to make the vows and keep them well;
I cannot stay ~ I must not linger
The time has come to say farewell.

I will miss your kindly gestures.
Cheering this heart and soul of mine
I pray that someday we will meet again
Maybe in spring or in summertime.

So until then, my wonderful friend,
You will sleep forever within my mind.
I kiss your hand, for I am leaving
To greet to the roses I left behind.
