Mental Repast
(Sev Meyer)
The trudging slog of daily life,
No, not quite defined as strife,
May try a wearied working man,
With plow behind or pen in hand,
To seek a distant realm of peace,
Not made of miles toward distant seas,
But inward-seeking far-off lands,
Where once, when younger, life’s demands,
Seemed naught, if in comparison
To the struggles in this garrison,
of everydayness.
