Metamorphosis Poem by Zachary Zuccaro

Metamorphosis

Free yourself from past attachments
dragging you into despair,
do not cling to what makes you miserable
but look to the future
in the hope that it will be better.

The skin swells and splits
allowing the flesh beneath
to burst out in a bloody mess.

A gooey, dripping glob
oozes from its exoskeleton,
an old life discarded
and replaced by a new one.

A new creature
covered with blood
prepares to encounter
the world.
