Midnight To Morning Poem by Matthew Holloway

Midnight To Morning

Illuminated by the dim light of a laptop screen
accompanied by a half bottle of whisky
in the unspoken hours where night meets morning
looking through websites to distract the mind
looking to escape this moment in time
then trying to write, anything just words
wanting for a sentence or verse to become
just to prove to ones self its still there, the muse
that the poetry has not gone away, become forgotten
the craftsmanship the artist the inspired soul
are all still in there somewhere, waiting, waiting
to be set free once more into the world
free like the endless possibilities with passion
the blinking line awaiting the tap of a key
a letter to begin something, anything
the whisky flows through the hours and the writing
begins with a solitary breath
