Mind Poem by Prabhakar Subramaniam

Mind

Silence is when the softer sounds
Are heard as loud as the mind
That flits from thought to thought
Wanders, gets lost, returns again;
Sometimes one cries out in pain
As if scalded again by the memory
The happy moments are darkened
By the shadow of the present
Their fragrance taken away
By the fickle wind that has turned
Life is still a half-heard song
A sweetness just beyond reach
A child that grows up too soon
Turns a stranger under the same roof
When the lights come on
The familiar noises are back
The virtual women
Are back plotting a new revenge.
