Mind Games Poem by Joan Marques

Mind Games

Rating: 4.0

Like a flash in the dark
Erects my mind
Penetrating into the oblivion
Of a lonely day
Whirling down like a leaf
That just left the tree
Starting a journey
That will end who knows where
Who cares?
The cricket in the back of my head
Chirps that this is ultimate silence
But how can it be
When I'm deafened by it
And when nothing makes sense
Other than the cloud of smoke
That rises from a scent stick
In no man's land
Faraway noises
In a faraway land
I'm not here anyway
Don't know where I am
Nowhere, I guess...

These poems are worth reading if only for the style. This one is good; but, in my humble opinion it weakens in the last six lines.
