Mine And Mine Alone.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

Mine And Mine Alone....

when you left
i have to accept
i lost you and
perhaps i also
lost myself, but
there is an end
somewhere
and at the end
there is always
a light in this tunnel
and i am thinking
about this self
this self that
i got, nothing more
nothing less,
the only one i
have now, which
i must love still
and care much better
now that i have
survived the pain
without telling,
anyone, not even
you,
and so, i begin
again,
early morning
taking walks,
savoring thoughts
in this peregrination,
moving inwards
meeting myself
again, with a promise
that somehow
i could love again
and be genuinely be loved
in return,
a hope, a new light,
in the darkest
tunnel of my life.

you are a stone
that i have thrown
somewhere,
a word that i left
somewhere,
and i am not
taking you back.

this is the drama
of love
which i have
entered as a door
unnecessarily
where no exit
was visible
until i made another
door myself
leading to another
house, which
i call, as
mine, and mine alone.
