Mirages Poem by Ananya Guha

Mirages

Rating: 4.0

Mirages are true
they are not mirages
we simply weave tales
we simply disconnect
mirages are everlastingly true
they tell a story
they are a fabulous world
mirages are punctuated with terror, horror
mirages are true, believe me

I saw one in ghostly fashion
and I saw one in dream
I saw one in my room
they are true, often they come
with dreams and somnambulistic
cat calls.
All blemished, all sullied
but they are true.

In childhood I saw this man
in apparent Buddha stance he sat
bald, grave, sitting in trance
it was I swear true.He vanished
out of my life

evaporating in Shillong's stillness
the bed on which he sat
was, is true.
