Mirror Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Mirror

Looking in the mirror I see an old man's face
Wrinkled, sagging chin, grey haired, glasses to see
Eyes still bright, mind alert and active
Quick thinking, responsive, ever questioning.
In my heart I feel young, bold and adventurous.
My Muse still in full reign reaching for the stars
Body tired with blood pressure and being overweight
Repeat medical prescriptions with health in decline
No longer able to run and plagued with shuffling walk
Difficulty in climbing and descending stairs
Time pressing hard with hours quickly passing.
I have known depth and breadth of love's passion
Overwhelming, joyful making the heart strong.
Love, strength of purpose because of you.
