More To Life Poem by Francis Duggan

More To Life

The words of a wise woman i do recall
When she said there is more to life than sports and football
And there is more to life than money and fame
Though these are important to many just the same
There is more to life than living for me, myself and i
Those who say there is not believe in their own lie
I listened to her advice to her teenage grandson
She said if you cannot love yourself you cannot love anyone
There is more to life than being best in the town
On your climb to success do not knock others down
Not all wealthy and famous people to greed are inclined
There are some wealthy and quite successful who are honest and kind
There is far more to life the wise woman said
Her wisdom is with me though she is long dead.
