Mount Etna Poem by Michael Walker

Mount Etna

The Earth gives birth unto a flood of blood
Of fire's rivers flowing forth through the ash,
For man has forgotten how to be good,
And how death died on wood upon the Pasch.

Dust we are, to dust we shall return,
So all that comes to dust we're called to spurn,
And that is why the Earth herself should burn,
In waiting for the Son of Man's return.

The Doors of Mercy have been opened wide
For the Jubilee, for all to see,
But the world continues to deride
The One Who comes on clouds to set us free!

The Earth quakes now that the veil has been torn,
But in her fire our souls are reborn.
