Munajat (Invocation) Poem by nermin nazim

Sadness overwhelming my whole being
Fire consuming my soul
Plights and pains are so dense
That nothing makes sense
And I don’t know any explanation
Save a bundle full of pains and treason
Tearing my heart and blowing away my reason
No one to turn to save you
The only savior out of this jungle.

Oh my God, lord of the universe
How to adore thee
How do I love thee?
Why do I forget to turn to thee
When times are hard
Thou art the creator of the whole universe
The creator of all beings
The living and eternal master
Of the cosmos and beyond
You listen to every lament and moan
Thou art the kindest and closest to us
Before resorting to thee
You come to me
I don’t have to knock at your door
To meet you
Or cry to you about injustices inflicted upon me
Thou art there always to help me
Thou art always at my rescue
As great as you are you long to us
Us, weak, worthless creatures
But thou loved us
Thou gave us our status
Thou hath elevated us over the angels
Over all your creatures
We humans
Thou honored us

I wish to cry and cry
Would my tears ever wash away my sins?
How many times was I evil?
How many times was I ungrateful?
But thou art always all Merciful
All Love and All Just
Before Whom all peaks go dust;

Its true that I have been sinful,
Dear Sir, but you are merciful,
Help me O Lord my Creator,
Than all the forces, Thee the greatest,
Forgive me O Lord, King Most High,
I regret for the sins, Sigh...
Despite the sins comitted on the way,
I know You'll purify them all away;

To my prayers and cries O Lord,
Will Thee grant them all Dear God,
'Coz if the Lord will not pardon the sinful,
Then who else shall be the merciful...
Even if You don't forgive me,
You shall be my Lord, and I the slave of Thee,
And if You won't grant my request,
I shall pray with more and more zest,
'Coz I know, when all the ways go dead,
The life comes down to dead-end,
There is only one bright ray of hope,
That is THEE MY LORD, MY GOD, MY HOPE...
