Musings - Standards Met Poem by Paul Warren

Musings - Standards Met

Nightly on our television screens you see
All the violence in the wide world to be
The internet is full of dark horrible things
Of deaths, explosions or disasters to it brings
The mangled bodies and destruction on the screen
Make me wonder why we have to show it as it has been

I think of the people who are shown dead
And the mothers and fathers who see them to dread
Why is it now that we have to have access to it all?
When others who love them have to watch their tears fall?
It seems to me that bad language on the screen is frowned
But to show around that which is horrible puts you on safe ground!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wonder why it is ok to show body parts on television but bad language is frowned upon. What to the people who love them think when their bodies are shown?
