My Affair Poem by Mark E Webster

My Affair

My Affair

I have something hard to tell you,
You'd better get a grip:
I really have
To put an end
To this relationship.
I didn't see it coming
But now I must be free.
The person I'm in love with
Isn't you,
It's me.

I didn't mean to hurt you
But my feelings are too strong.
I've been seeing me behind your back
Not feeling it was wrong.
We have so much in common.
We get along so well.
While life with you,
Since meeting me,
Has been a living hell.

I have to say we've 'done it'
And yes, it was in our bed,
While you were on the sofa
With a headache,
So you said.
I want to share my life with me,
I truly love me so.
If you have any feelings left
You'll kindly let me go.

Don't be too downhearted,
You won't be on the shelf.
This is the perfect moment
To learn to love
Yourself.
