Erica German

Rookie (1992 / clinton twp)

my breath

my first breath was held in in that room
where everybody watched and stayed toon
to wait for me
my mommas dream

they all wanted to see my face
the one who brought my family grace
im the one
who my family loves a ton

when my moms water burst
i was the one that had to come first

i was the one who brought the smile again
im the one who owned the elmo play pen

i was the one whos breath was so light
the one who kept my mom awake every night
with my wine with my cry
in her open arms i would lie

my breath will be there from death apart
just so they will remember my warm heart
