My Darling Flo Poem by David Smart

My Darling Flo

Rating: 5.0

It must be forty years ago
That I first met my darling Flo.
She was a girl of just sixteen
I vowed that she would be my Queen.
I fell in love and did not try
To fight the power of her eye.

I courted her for four long years
Before my pleading and my tears
Melted her and made her give
Her hand to me ".... you both shall live."
The words we spoke that made us one
The barriers at last were gone.

She gave me son and daughters two
She gave me love and kindness too.
I gave her all I had to give
For ever while we both should live.
Now after forty years of fun
I feel that we have scarce begun.
