My Depression Poem by shanice harris

My Depression

it starts through the ears
breaks past the skull
infects the mind
through the arteries
rips the skin as it goes
artery/veinvein/artery/veinvein

attacks the heart feeding off of it slowly
rips the skin as it goes
tears the nerves pressuring paralysis
rapaciously permeating the body
artery/veinvein/artery/veinvein

sears through the fingers
causing the being to become a cutter
violating their own skin
yearning for the pain, blood;
anything to make them hurt physically
to feel something, anything
other than mental pain
artery/veinvein/artery/veinvein

until eventually they stop feeling
their last resort evanescing into darkness, nothing.
then derangement washes over them
death when its too late for help
nobody noticed their hurt, pain, scars, blood
artery/veinvein/arteryartery/
veinvein/artery/vein/artery/vein
