My Dumb Friend Poem by Abdimajid Abdisamed

My Dumb Friend

Paramedic says my friend’s in the hospital
Doctor says he just might lose it all
The place is way too far away
I ain’t going to the hospital today
One broken nose and two bleeding ears
The realization of all his fears
He can’t hear anything ‘cause he’s deaf
Only understands hand signs from the ref
He’s pretty dumb but he’s still my friend
I promised I’d stick with him till the end
With the end for him getting near
He wonders, “Why ain’t he here? ”
The reason, to you, I shall explain
He put himself in this pain
While riding his motorbike, he did a face plant
He can no longer do what vegetables can’t
Recently cheated on his third wife
He’ll pay the price with his life
Karma got to him, made him lose
Wasted all his money on crack and booze
He’s like a brother from another mother
Needless to say, he’s like no other
At first I thought his attitude was divine
By now he’s far passed crossed the line
I don’t hate him, but he owes me too
From the thousand I loaned him in Waterloo
From the depths of the ocean to the big blue sky
You were my best friend, to you, goodbye
